SECTION 3

3.1 GENERAL

3.1.1 At any time before, during or after an event, Enid Speedway Park track officials may require additional measures or equipment, or make additional determination, as they deem necessary to further reduce the risk to competitors.

3.1.2 All cars are subject to a minimum specification inspection at any time and a refusal of such inspection is subject to being disqualified. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare his/her car to comply with all minimum specifications, to be free of defects and in safe racing condition.

3.1.3 Roll cages must be basic four point type with rear supports.
A. Four post roll cage with diagonal brace behind driver is mandatory. Cage must be minimum 1-½” inch O.D. x .095 inch wall thickness mild steel tubing.
B. Must have four bar door protectors on both sides.
C. Cage must be welded to frame in at least six places.
D. Cage must extend from the windshield post to behind the drivers seat but not farther than 6” inches behind trailing edges of doors. Offset cages will be allowed in Street Stock and Modifieds only.
E. Bracing material must be 1” inch O.D. x .095” inch wall thickness mild steel tubing MINIMUM.
F. Seats and belts must be racing type as all other classes of cars.
G. Radiator protector may be installed - maximum 2” O.D. mild tubing formed around the radiator with a maximum 18” back brace.
H. Horizontal bar between front vertical bar required.
I. Engine hoop to incorporate leg brace tube to protect driver.

3.2 SAFETY

3.2.1 Helmets. Helmets are required and must be a minimum of SNELL 2000 RATED and must be worn at all times that car is on the track and must accompany the car at time of inspection. The helmet must have a face shield or eye protection which must be in place when the car is on the track. A full face helmet is required.

3.2.2 Driving suit. A driving suit, racing gloves and shoes of a flame Nomex, flame retardant fabric, are mandatory and MUST be worn by all competitors. If driving suit is a two piece suit BOTH the top and bottom must be worn at the same time. It is RECOMMENDED that there be a one piece , minimum three layer quilted suit, fire resistant underwear, socks, shoes and hood of fire resistance material are highly recommended.

3.2.3 Exhaust System. Exhaust system must be mounted in such a way as to direct spent gases away from the cockpit area of the vehicle and away from areas of possible fuel spillage.

3.2.5 Mufflers. It is mandatory for the exhaust system to be equipped with mufflers of some type as not to exceed a decibel level of 95 at 100 feet.

3.2.5 Fuel cell. Safety approved fuel cells are mandatory. Fuel cells must be enclosed in a metal case of 18 gauge metal and must have a protective loop at the rear that extends at least 1” inch below the fuel cell. The fuel cell overflow hose MUST go to the bottom of the cell on the outside and must be fastened at the bottom of the cell. ROLL OVER VALVES OR BALL CHECK VALVES MUST BE INSTALLED AT ALL FUEL CELL FITTINGS. All fuel cells must have a minimum of two 2” inch X 18” inch metal straps or equivalent metal surrounding fuel cell.

3.2.6 Batteries. Batteries must be securely mounted and shielded. Batteries mounted inside the vehicle must be in marine type cases.

3.2.7 Loose Objects. Loose objects and or weights will not be allowed above the interior tin or deck or in the driver compartments. Any weight added to other areas of the vehicle must be securely mounted using a minimum of two ½’ inch bolts through the weights. Weights must be painted white and have your number painted on them.

3.2.8 Shoulder Harness, Belts, Restraints & Nets. A competition shoulder harness, at least 3” inches wide, and a lap belt at least 3” inches wide are required. NO OEM factory type shoulder belts or straps will be allowed. Metal to metal buckles are required on the harness and lap belts. The harness must be mounted in at least FIVE points below the driver’s shoulders (SLTB STRAP). Arm restraints or windows are mandatory. Latch on window nets must be steel (no old seat belt buckles unless completely steel) and mounted with latch to upper front corner. Roll bar padding required. Neck brace is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

3.2.9 Kill Switch. A kill switch is required and must be within easy reach of driver with the shoulder harness and lap belt fully cinched. THIS KILL SWITCH MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED OFF AND ON.

3.2.10 Drive Shaft Hoops. Drive shaft hoops are required and must be constructed of at least the equivalent of ¼” inch by 2’ inch steel and must be mounted in such a matter as to contain the drive shaft in case of breakage. THE DRIVE SHAFT MUST BE PAINTED WHITE.

3.2.11 Mirrors and Radio. NO mirrors or radios of any kind are allowed at any time.

3.2.12 Steering Wheel. It is recommended that all cars be equipped with a quick disconnect steering wheel.

3.2.13 Brakes. All cars must have working brakes on all four wheels. Except Limited Modifieds.

3.2.14 Window Nets or Arm Restraints. Window nets or TWO arm restraints are mandatory in all classes. Window net must be on drivers side, also mandatory on right side in Cruiser division. Nets must be a minimum of 16” inches X 20” inches on a 3/8” inch rod with racing type latch. ALL CLASSES, DURING A RACE WINDOW NET OR TWO ARM RESTRAINTS MUST BE IN USE.

3.2.15 Fire Equipment. Hand held fire extinguishers or on board fire systems securely mounted in brackets and in reach of driver are mandatory in all divisions.

3.2.16 Lettering. All cars must have minimum 15” inches X 2 ½” inches wide numbers on both doors and roof facing passenger side. ^” inch numbers on left front and rear. No more than three characters. EXAMPLE: 20X, not 20XM. ABSOLUTELY NO OBSCENE NUMBER OR LETTERING WILL BE ALLOWED ON ANY CAR.

3.2.17 Wrecker Loops. Front and rear on the outside of the nose piece or tail piece so that hood or trunk need not be removed to remove car from track. Must be 8” inches tall.

REMEMBER IF IT DOESN’T SAY YOU CAN…THEN YOU CAN’T.
